Pediatric Physical and Occupational Therapy
Skyland Physical and Occupational therapists are trained to treat impairments of the muscular, skeletal, nervous, and sensory systems.
At Skyland Physical Therapy we help children achieve the highest level of physical independence possible and work with parents and coaches or dance / martial arts teachers to optimize performance in chosen sports or other athletic activities.
We provide Physical and Occupational therapy to children of all ages with diagnoses such as:
- Sports or athletic / dance injury
- Muscle Weakness
- Coordination or Balance Disorder
- Gross or Fine Motor delay
- Sensory Integration Challenges
- Cerebral Palsy
- Down’s Syndrome
- Erb’s Palsy
- Spinal Bifida
We treat children with single or multiple conditions. We provide pre- and post-surgical strengthening programs for children with orthopedic or neurological issues, and we can recommend orthotics for joint alignment and support. We can aid families in obtaining appropriate equipment for optimum independent mobility and comfort.
We value communication with families, physicians and other health care providers. We listen to our patients and their families as we work together to help children reach their maximum potential with gross and fine motor development or athletic performance. We work with families and insurance companies to help make therapy accessible and affordable.
Skyland Therapists are credentialed with CDSA (Children’s Developmental Services Agency) and NC Medicaid to serve children, and we participate with most other private insurance companies.
If you have questions about whether or not a child may benefit from PT or OT services, refer the child for an initial evaluation and we will help determine if services are appropriate.
